Project Description

The left end of the exit channel at the Miraflores lock, Panama Canal, is undermined by the effects of tides and currents induced by vessels. After the need to repair the exit canal, without affecting the operation of the lock, the Panama Canal Authority (ACP) was looking for a corrective proposal with a fast and minimally invasive construction process.

Solution

The repair of the exit channel of the lock was carried out by the construction of a secant piles wall, rotary piles and nails. Sheet piles and gabion walls were previously installed as temporary structures during the construction process to maintain a safe and uniform work platform.
