Project Description
The project consisted of soil improvement in the area where the construction of an industrial storage warehouse for Disagro was planned, in Puerto Cortés, Honduras. The soil improvement technique was used to increase the bearing capacity of the land and thus be able to build a direct foundation to develop the loads of the industrial warehouse.
Solution
The bearing capacity was low in 3 specific areas of the project, so the construction of Controlled Module Columns (CMC’s) was proposed to increase the capacity of the land. This was a quick and effective option that allowed the construction of the industrial building to stay on schedule. Additionally and as part of the quality control for the work carried out, 3 load tests were carried out on the columns of controlled modulus.
