Project Description
Public foundation work in the center of San José Costa Rica, which arose from the need to expand the original Legislative Assembly building. One of the main challenges of this work was the water table, which was only 3 meters deep..
Solution
Due to the need to build 5 basements in an urban area, it was necessary to consider the execution of retaining walls in the project area where the new building for the Legislative Assembly of the Republic of Costa Rica would be built. Among the activities to be carried out, a perimeter enclosure, demolition of a 3-story building, demolition of minor works, construction of screen walls to retain a maximum height of up to 22.0 m was considered. Once the screen walls were built, the excavation activities (earthworks) and execution of the temporary anchoring of the screen walls were carried out..
